Dear Families,
Welcome back to Kindergarten! Here is our first official blog of the year. Each Friday, Our Bluejays (SK students) will take time to write, draw, and speak about our favourite moments from the week.
Everyone got to make their name using dots or markers. They are on display in our class.
We each made a hand print using paint on our hand. This week, we used everyone's hands together to make a flower. It is outside our classroom.
We like playing 'The Name Game'. It is fun to find our name on a card before our friends do. Ask us to sing you the name song!
Another Game that we like to play outside is called 'Fruit Salad'. Ms. Boag calls out a fruit and we need to find the fruit's colour. Red is apples, white is coconut, blue is blueberries, and yellow is lemons.
This Friday was Dot Day! We read a book called 'The Dot' and we celebrated Dot Day! We even found this story on youtube to watch.
We all got to make a crown or a necklace using jewels and stickers.
We also read 'Ten Black Dots' and created a book together of our own creative ways to use 10 black dots. We can make snowmen, people, ballons, and more with dots.
A new centre opened today - it was the Art centre. There were different circle shapes that we got to paint and stamp onto a big paper to create a picture together. We loved painting together to make something beautiful.
Our Bluejay friends have been busy working together. In groups of 4 they all made scarecrows. After reading a book called 'How to Make a Scarecrow' each group made a plan, gathered materials, and built a scarecrow. We have a chef, a cowboy, a princess, and a Canada girl! They will all be entered in the Markham Fair this weekend!
We have had lots of fun creating many things for Markham Fair. We got to paint our hands again this week to make a finger painting pictures and we painted vegetables too! Some of us also made instruments from recycled materials, nature pictures, or animals from plasticine.
We celebrated 3 September Birthday this week! Our Birthday friends get to wear a special button!
