Hi Families,
Here are some stories from the week...
Olympics
The Winter Olympics finished on the weekend, but the Black Walnut Olympics finished on Wednesday! We were very happy that our class country of Slovenia finished the race! We learned a lot about winter sports and had fun learning new ways to exercise.
It's a Zoo
We read the story Dear Zoo by Rod Campbell. It is a funny story with a patterned text so we enjoyed helping to read the story. After reading, we decided to make some of our own animals that we can tell our own stories with and then we can make a zoo with them.
Pink Shirt Day
On Wednesday, we celebrated Pink Shirt Day by wearing pink and red. We practised being a buddy not a bully and made our own T-shirts with messages.
Here are some of our thoughts on being kind:
Being
kind is talking to people and helping them get to the snack table
Being
kind is not grabbing. We should be nice sharing and ask nicely
Being
Kind is reading a book to a chickadee and helping them
Being
Kind is not breaking things. We should be kind and gentle and careful
Being
Kind is playing with everyone and not being mean. Try to make a new friend each
day.
Shapes! Shapes! Shapes!
This week for our nature walk we used clipboards and pencils and went on a shape walk. We stopped in different places and looked for shapes in the world around us and drew them into our shape books.
When we got back to class, we added some different shapes to our math centre to play with and explore.
Letter Book
We took down our Chicka Chicka Letters this week and put them together in a book. It was fun to look back on all the art we received and we already love looking at our new class book.
Chicks
We had 4 special visitors on Wednesday. One of our Bluejays brought in some chicks that she and her family are taking care of. She told us that they came out of eggs and are now growing big! We watched them eat and drink and we listened to them peeping!
Grad Photos
Our Bluejays looked fantastic today for their SK Grad photos. You are going to love them!
