Our Week October 17 - 21

Hi Families,

We had a wonderful, but rainy week in Kindergarten! Here are our stories!

We had our first indoor recess this week because it was rainy! It was exciting because we got to go to the big gym. Some Bluejays made this sign to help us remember the centres we can go to when it is raining at recess.

We started working on our book store. First, we took a class survey to find out what kinds of books people like to read. Then, we chose books to go on the shelves but it looked too messy. When we sorted the books into 3 boxes; People Books, Animal Books, and Machine Books. We have added prices and a scanner. Now, we need a book store name.

On Wednesday, Mrs. Boag came to visit with a special plant. It was a spider plant that had lots of babies. She helped us We planted spider plants in dirt and in water. We hope they are going to grow. We can see some have roots already growing in the little water cups. We really like our spider plants because they are stripy and little.

We have also been watching our celery plants grow. We now have 3! One is in dirt because it has roots. The other 2 are in water but they have lots of leaves! Soon, we can try to eat it.
- I wonder who likes celery?

Today, we didn't go on a nature walk because it was our picture day! We all got to take a picture on our own and one with our whole class! Say 'Happy'!!!

We did have a lot of fun on last week's nature walk. We went on a leaf hunt to find different kinds of leaves. We found 5 kinds and have started our own leaf book.

Our Week October 11-14

Hi Again Families,

We hope you enjoyed the long weekend! We have had just a short week. Here are some stories.

This week we sorted the books on our book shelf. We added some new titles too!  We really like 'Look and Find' books, robot books, and books about leaves and Fall. We now have reading glasses to help us read! They are funny!

We read a great book called 'My Leaf Book'. It told us all about the leaves in the forest. We are going to try to make our own leaf book after our nature walk today - stay tuned....

We have been working with letters a lot this week. We go on letter hunts in our sensory tub, and we help letters climb the coconut tree in one of our favourite stories.
We also looked at the letters that start our names and sorted them. The letters D and E start most of our names.

We also enjoy listening and dancing to letter songs on youtube. Our favourite is 'The Letter Sound Song'.

Our Chicka Chicka Letter Tree is almost finished! We have most of the letters but still need N, E, H, and T. The letters have come in the mail from all over Canada.

Our Week October 3 - 7

Hi Families,
Thank you so much to everyone who came out last night to visit us at Curriculum Night! We hope you had a great night!

Last week was our Terry Fox run! We had a great time running, and running, and running! We are really fast!

This week, we opened our Beautiful Junk Station and Our Box Centre. It has become one of our favourite places to create and imagine! We are learning about different tools and materials here, and about different shapes and sizes and how things work and go together! Thank you Bluejay D for sending in some great boxes for our new racetracks!
We have made telescopes, scarecrows, cars, shakers and instruments, and even maps!

On Thursday we went on a nature walk to the woodlot! We watched leaved falling off the trees and saw many colours. We collected leaves and sticks to bring back to our classroom.
When we got back from our nature walk, we made our own Thankful trees using things we found on our nature walk! We each added messages about what we feel thankful for!

Thursday Night was our Family Curriculum Night! It was fun to show our Mommies and Daddies around the room! We are always looking for special materials in our room. If you ever have any of these, please feel free to send them in!

This week has been our school's annual Book Fair! We had a good time visiting the Fair and making lists of books we like. Our class even got some special donations from families! Thank You!!

Friday morning we read a special book called 'Thelma the Unicorn'. It taught us that we are special and unique just the way we are! Thanks for sending it in Bluejay M!!!

Our Trip to Markham Fair!

Dear Families,
Our internet connection at the school was down on Friday so we didn't a chance to blog!

I saw lots of scarecrows. (K.D.)

I liked petting the horse and the sheep. A sheep was wearing a blanket! (M.H.)

I liked watching the skipping rope jumpers. (O.C.)

We got to see an ambulance. I didn't want to go in it. (A.C.)

I watched the monster trucks. (D.A.)
I liked watching the black horse in the race. (D. S-N.)
I fed a horse! (T.P.)
There was a tiny horse in a show. (C.L.)

We watched a gymnastics show and we went to see the animals. (A.N.)

I got a box train. (R.R.)

I just loved the dog show! (L.L)

We were so excited by our trip that we have decided to construct our very own Markham Fair in our construction centre. We have a map of what Markham Fair looks like to help us!

We missed seeing the Faircrow at Markham Fair but we got some colouring pictures of him. Ms. Boag found him on the weekend for us! She went to get our school's big trophy!
