Our Week - October 10-13

Hi Families,

Here are some stories from our short week.

Belly Breathing
Since September, we have been doing belly breathing. Everyday after lunch we sit down or lie down, we put our hands on our bellies and we think about relaxing and making a happy picture in our brain. We do it to help us relax and cool down so our brain can focus. This month, we started a new song about 'melting'. first, we squeeze our bodies really tight and freeze into an ice block. Then, we slowly relax our bodies and melt into a puddle.

Chicka Chicka Letter Exchange
We finished our letter Ws and we put them in the mail to send to other classes and schools around Canada. We were excited to get letters for our Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Tree! The letters R and A came in the mail this week!
        

Number Week
We watched a fun video on youtube called 'play-dough counting 1 to 10'. This week we made lots of numbers at different centres. We made them by painting and writing, and we built them using play-dough and blocks. We had fun playing and learning with numbers. We also brought out our number board games to practice taking turns.
 








Our Train Station

This week we got new train tracks to put around our train station. We knew the trains needed train tracks to move. We made lines in the parking lot for the trains and buses so that each vehicle has a space. We put numbers on the spots and on the trains so that they don't get mixed up!

Our Week in Kindergarten - October 2 -6

Hi Families,

What a wonderful week we have had! Here are our stories.

Art Wall
We have an art wall in our class. It has lots of art on it. Our art is different colours, pictures, and shapes. We made our names. We made paintings. We made nature pictures too. We love the art wall because it is beautiful!
                             

Gym
Gym is our favourite place to go. We like to run and play in the gym. This week we played with 2 parachutes!

Nature Walk
This week we went on our first nature walk to the forest. We saw a snake!! It was nice visiting the forest. 

Book Fair
This week it was the book fair. We all went to the book fair together and we each made a list of the books we liked.  Some of us went to the book fair last night to get a book. Some books have our favourite characters and some books have stickers inside and some books have toys inside. We love to read! Thank you for supporting our school!

Potato Measuring
We got a potato from the Markham Fair that was grown by a farmer on a potato farm. It won the prize for being the biggest and heaviest potato at the Fair! We measured it on a balance scale and tried to find something in our class that was heavier than the potato.
                         

Chicka Chicka Letter W
We read a book called 'Chicka Chicka Boom Boom' and we made letter W. We made our Ws into watermelons, whales, walrus, wagons, worms, and Wonder Woman! We are going to put our letter Ws in the mailbox to send them to other schools and hopefully we get some letters back!




Train Station
We got some paper trains and buses at the Markham Fair. We made a train station for them to park in. We also made tracks, roads, and signs for the station. 

Mystery Plant
We brought a mystery plant back from Markham Fair. We have looked closely at it this week and found some clues:
-it is round
-it is green and purple
-it is a plant but it is not a flower
-it has leaves
We made predictions of what we thought it was
-it's broccoli
-it's a rose
-it's lettuce
Today we found out that it is a cabbage!! Thank you parents and families for your help!
