Our Week in Kindergarten - September 17 - 21

Hi Families,

Thank you for your quick response to our upcoming field trip to Markham Fair! We still need more parent helpers so if you are available please let us know.
We are also hoping to see you Wednesday morning at 9:50 for our first Kinderstar Assembly!

Food Painting
We did lots more art for Markham Fair! Ms. Boag brought in vegetables and fruit and we got to use them to paint. We stamped them in paint and then put them onto our paper. Each fruit and vegetable looks different inside!

Emojis
Ms. Darlow visited and helped us to draw emojis. Our emojis told about how we felt on the first day of school! We felt excited, nervous, happy, sad, and great!

House Signs
We worked some more on our Let's Pretend House. We made labels and signs so that know where things go and how to tidy up.

Letter Painting
Ms. Ancona did some special name painting with us. We all painted the first letter in our name and then when we pulled off the tape our letter was there!

Motorcycle
We all practised working together at the construction centre. We are learning to take turns, share blocks, and to keep towers standing. We were so excited when a group of friends made a motorcycle! We can get four people to fit on the motorcycle!

Our Week in Kindergarten - Sept 10 - 14

Hi Families,
We are busy practicing some songs to perform for you at our upcoming assembly! Check your calendar for the date! We are also having fun making things to enter in the Markham Fair art contest - then we may see our artwork on our Markham Fair field trip!

We had a creative and artistic week! Here are some stories.

Mural
We are working together to create a large mural of a garden. We decided to call it our 'Kinder-Garden' and we are filling it with flowers and bugs.

Finger Paint
We used our hands this week to make paintings. The paint was cold and squishy and slimy but it was so much fun! Our favourite was when we got to mix the colours.

Dot Day
Friday was Dot Day - celebrating Peter Reynolds book 'The Dot'. We made dots to decorate the hallway and painted together to make a masterpiece!

Visiting Our Garden
On our Nature Walk today we went to our garden. We found weeds, weeds, and more weeds! We had a lot to do! We also watered the plants and had fun running through the sprinkler!

Welcome Back to Kindergarten! Sept 4 - 7

Hi Families,

Welcome to another wonderful year of Kindergarten! Our Bluejay students wanted to start off the year by taking you a tour of our classroom. Here are the centres in our classroom and what we like to do there.

Snack
We like to eat at our snack centre everyday. We put our nametag on a spot and then we wash our hands.

Play-Dough
At the play-dough centre we like to mush and squish. We make snakes and cookies and balls. This week we have blue and purple play dough. We will start our play dough club soon and we'll be looking for helpers at home to make play dough.

Writing
We like to visit the writing centre to write stories, draw pictures, and colouring in books. We use our imagination and have fun!

Math
At our math centre we are practising using our hands for work. You can play with jewels, make letters, build shapes, balance blocks, make necklaces, and make numbers.

Let's Pretend
We had a vote and made our Let's Pretend centre into a house. We made a plan and got cups, plates, and food. Then we found a baby bed and a Bluejay friend brought a baby doll for us to play with.

Puzzles and Games
We like to put puzzles together and dress up our Mr.Potato head. We have lots of colourful puzzles to try.

Reading
We love books in Kindergarten and at our reading corner you can read any book you want to read! We have back to school books and some fun look and find books!

Construction
At our construction centre we build, and make things and we do not knock over towers. We like to make houses, castles, and buildings.
