Hi Families,
With tomorrow being our PA Day we thought we would blog today. Even though it was a short week we were very busy!
Here are our stories.
Number Books
This week we added the numbers 3 and 4 to our number books. Each time we add a number we practise writing the number and look for the numbers around the room. This time, we found the number 3 on a storybook call 'The Three Little Kittens'. We talked about the number 3 in other books too like The Three Little Pigs, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, and the Three Billy Goats Gruff.
Footprints in the Snow
We went out to the forest with Ms. Darlow to look for more footprints. This time we found dog and raccoon prints!
Letter F
We got the letter F in the mail this week and it was a fish and a flower. We are getting really good at making predictions and guessing what will be in the envelope. This time many Bluejays got the right answer.
Happy Birthday Mr. Robot
We decided that our box robot should have a birthday party this week. We made Mr. Robot a new birthday shirt and a hat, a present box filled with gifts, and some hand written cards. We even made a friend for Mr. Robot so that he would have someone to play with! Creating with boxes is so much fun!
New Puzzles
After cleaning our closet, Ms. Bog and Ms. Ancona found some new puzzles for us to try. Each puzzle cam in a bag and Ms. Boag said they came all the way from Australia. We worked together to try each puzzle and they all made different things. Some puzzles had number and some had letters.
Paper Airplanes
We wanted to try to make a paper airplane so we got some paper and we found a video on youtube to teach us. We started off ok but the video got really hard. We didn't know at first but now we know that paper airplanes are hard work to make! We persevered and did it and we got to test them out!
We learned about the word 'yet'. Sometimes we are not ready to do something 'yet'. But if we keep trying and practicing we can do it!
Castles & Costumes
Ms. Ancona brought us an amazing surprise on Thursday!! Since we have been planning and creating our Let's Pretend castle, she found and brought in some princess costumes for us to dress as princesses! They were so beautiful! Next we will be looking for some prince and knight costumes!!
This Blog is a space where the learning in our classroom can be celebrated! Our SK students (The Bluejays) will document their learning here by listing, planning, photographing, and writing to you about the highlights of our week, though the eyes of the students.

Our Weeks in Kindergarten - January 13 - 24
Hi Families,
With our P.A. Day last week we didn;t get a chance to post so here are some classroom stories from the past 2 weeks.
Castle Planning
We had a great idea that we would like to turn our let's pretend centre into a castle! We drew up some plans of hat our castle could look like and now we need to decide how we will make it.
Chicka Chicka Letters Exchange
We are almost at the end of our letter exchange. We got the letters I, E, and B. We really like the bumblebees on the letter B and tried to make some ourselves!
Our Flower
Our sideways flower bloomed pink and white flowers. They were very big flowers.
Spider Plants
We noticed this week that our baby spider plants have white hairs growing our at the ends. We looked in a book and realized that the white hairs are roots. When they get a bit longer we can plant the baby plants in some dirt.
Snowshoeing
On Tuesday we spent the morning outside going showshoeing, Ms. Boag and Ms. Ancona helped us all put showshoes on and then we walked and ran around. It was hard work at first but it got easier as we practised and got our balance.
Our New Friend
We welcomed a new Chickadee to our class this week! We helped Ms. Boag get the classroom ready for our new students by making a list of all the things that she would need to be ready for Kindergarten. She needs a folder and a book bag and lots of other things too!

Happy New Year! January 6 - 10, 2020!
Hi Families,
Happy New Year!! After listening to each other in our sharing circles and sharing our holiday journals, it sounds like everyone had a wonderful winter break!
Here are some stories from our week!
Measuring
We all grew over the holiday so we took turns measuring how tall we are.
Classroom Critters!
On Monday, we wished our pet fish a happy new year and we cleaned their fish tank. We also checked on our vermi composter worms and cleaned out their home. We gave them some fresh newspaper and some coffee grounds and vegetable scraps so they have something to eat.
Sorting
Some of us brought beautiful junk collections to school that we collected over the holidays. We took turns talking about our collections and then worked as a class to decide how we could sort them. Most collections we sorted by colour, shape, and size!
Not a Box
We read the story 'Not a Box' and used boxes, tubes, bottles, and beautiful junk to make him and we called him Mr. Robot. He likes to read books from our reading centre.
Chicka Chicka Alphabet
We opened 2 new letters this week - our V and U. V was made of velcro and had violet flowers stuck to it. U was a unicorn and an umbrella. We have 10 more letters to go before we finish our alphabet - we hope they come in the mail soon!!
Forest Footprints
On Thursday, we went to the forest and found all sorts of animal tracks. We think some of them were bunny tracks and some were squirrel tracks. We followed the tracks all around the forest. We went up and down hills, under branches, and through bushes! We never found the end of the tracks but it was so fun to follow!
New Plants
We have lots of new plants in our classroom. We planted one that came already growing in a box! We have watched it this week and even though it is starting to flower it is growing sideways! It must have been very squished in that box.
We also are trying to grow our own baby spider plants by pulling them off the big plant and floating them in water. When the roots are growing we'll know they're ready to plant.
